"What we’re witnessing is an awesome national failure."

Krugman on the let's-just-accept-unemployment-well-over-five-percent-for-another-half-decade-at-least Obama (Hope! Change!) budget.

Sigh.

Dean Baker on what could be done.

Comments:
From my personal vantage point, the corporations are quite happy to have their workers fearful of losing their jobs so they can pile even more work on top of us with less pay. After 10 years here as a corporate librarian, I'm still making less than Austin's living wage. Quite recently I was even given a much larger administrative load, plus mailroom duties. All to say that Obama is a corporate president, and despite his occasional populist rhetoric, and 10% unemployment is a wet dream for his good borg buddies.
